A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WAX COMPANY ON THE CELEBRATION OF ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, the Wax Company, a Mississippi owned and operated company since 1898, celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 1998; and
WHEREAS, the Wax Company is a leading basic producer and wholesale distributor of agriculture seed and related products throughout the United States and selected foreign countries; and
WHEREAS, the Wax Company, founded in 1898 by N.T. Wax is a company with a foundation built upon a rich tradition of commitment to serving the Mississippi farmer; and
WHEREAS, J.C. Wax entered the family business in 1913 and was active until his death in 1976, enjoying 63 years of service to the seed industry, which is the longest of such service known in the State of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Richard T. Wax joined the business in 1948 and continues as President of the Wax Company, a position to which he was elected in 1972, and has now spent over 50 years of service to the Mississippi agricultural industry; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his duties with the Wax Company, Richard T. Wax is a former president of the Southern Seedsmen's Association, the Southern Field Seed Council and was appointed by the American Seed Trade Association to the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association; and
WHEREAS, Barry Wax, Terry Wax Myatt and John Wax, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Wax, are now actively involved in the family business as the fourth generation of the Wax Company to provide seeds for southern soils; and
WHEREAS, the Wax Company is a member of the American Seed Trade Association, the Southern Seedsmen's Association, the Western Seedsmen's Association, the Mississippi Seedsmen's Association, the Alabama Seedsmen's Association, the Tennessee Seedsmen's Association, the Arkansas Seed Dealers Association, the Louisiana Seedsmen's Association, the Texas Seed Trade Association, the South Carolina Seedsmen's Association and the Oklahoma Seed Trade Association; and
WHEREAS, the Wax Company has provided direct support exceeding $750,000.00 to the agricultural industry through scholarships, sponsorships and research support, with Mississippi State University receiving over $650,000.00; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence of outstanding Mississippi companies such as the Wax Company, who is firmly committed to the future prosperity and success of Mississippi agriculture and those who comprise this great industry:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Wax Company on the celebration of its 100th Anniversary and extend to Mr. Richard T. Wax our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Wax Company, Mr. Richard T. Wax and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
